Exposed Skin Care

There was a time I couldn’t run a comb through my hair without having to scream in pain. You see, back then, my scalp was full of pimples, pimples that did nothing but constantly irritate me. They were itchy, often bloody, oozed a reddish dark discharge and emitted an awful odor. Whenever I itched, I’d have scalp scabs peeling all over my hands, on my bed and whatever piece of clothing I was wearing.

Often at times, the oozing fluid from the itchy bumps would turn into dried grainy white substances making a trip to the barber a very dreadful experience. Not only was I embarrassed to be seen with such an unnatural looking fungi infested scalp, it was humiliating watching my barber run to the bathroom to wash his hands after cutting my hair.

I hated my life for this because there was nothing I could do. I was hopelessly helpless. My doctor and dermatologist were clueless. I rigorously searched the internet numerous times for solutions to my problem but found no worthwhile answers.

Most of the suggestions/responses I encountered revolved primarily around trying various shampoos to see which one worked for me. Others suggested I even check my diet and adjust it. All these advices came from well meaning people, but did nothing to alleviate the hellish battle that mercilessly ensued daily on my scalp.

For a while, I tried the countless suggestions I received and applied them to my scalp. I went and bought the following list of shampoos hoping one of them would be the long awaited answer to my prayer…but none was.

Nizoral

Scalpicin (not a shampoo, but more of an ointment)

Head and Shoulders

Selsun Blue

Neutrogena T-Gel

The only relief I got from these shampoos was temporary and when I say temporary, I mean, temporary in the sense that, the minute my scalp got dry from washing it with any one of the aforementioned shampoos, it’d get very itchy all over again. So, yes, buying all of the above shampoos, in hopes of curing my scalp infection, was a tremendous waste of money and needless heartbreak.

I couldn’t continue to live life like this. This had to stop. I didn’t just want to have to tolerate this relentlessly itchy scalp infection, or deal with it, or manage it, I wanted to get rid of it…PERMANENTLY.

But how was I to do that? The professionals, the doctors and dermatologists couldn’t come up with a working cure, so how was I, a mere layman, to do the impossible?

Nevertheless, I pressed on in my quest. I had to. The uneasiness was just too much of a discomfort to give up on. I always had some sort of an inkling that whatever the issue was that was bothering me had to be biological, meaning, coming from within my body system. I had used so many external ointments on my scalp that I felt if the problem was external; it would have been eliminated by now. But it wasn’t and did not get eliminated until I came across the right antibiotics.

If you are one of the unlucky victims suffering from a similar bleeding itchy infection of the scalp, please do not continue to worry or panic.

Even though your doctor and/or dermatologist might not have been able to find you a lasting cure, there is one. The cure lies in antibiotics, the type you take orally, NOT the type you apply to the surface of the infection. You must visit your dermatologist or doctor and specifically ask for ?-lactam antibiotic capsules designed specifically to battle bacterial infections within the body.

For your own sake, do not invest too much of your time, faith and money into shampoos or any external ointments unless you don’t mind being disappointed. IF you want real relief from your itchy scalp ailment, you must battle it with the proper antibiotics otherwise, continue to suffer in silence.
